Blue Moon in Aquarius

If there has ever been a full moon perfectly and personally tailored to a woman, this is definitely my moon.

I’m an Aquarius, the moon is in Aquarius, it’s a “Moon-Day,” and I’ve been gifted my own moon cycle this morning—all of this after what was possibly one of the most transformative weeks of my life.

Whoa. (Big deep breath.)

Today, given the intensity I feel from the aforementioned, I am going to anchor and call forth in the following manner. This is the ritual I’m planning, and I hope it resonates with you and helps you as well.

Cleanse Your Space: Begin by smudging your space with sage or palo santo. As the smoke rises, visualize any stagnant energy being cleared away, making room for fresh insights and transformation.

Create an Altar: Even if it’s just a small space on a table, gather objects that resonate with the Aquarius energy, such as crystals like amethyst or labradorite. I use symbols of air, especially feathers and fallen leaves. Place them on your altar along with a white or silver candle to honor the Moon.

Set Your Intention: Write down what you wish to release and what you intend to invite into your life under this Full Moon. Aquarius energy supports innovation, independence, and higher consciousness, so think big and be bold in your intentions. I personally burn mine at the end of my ritual, but I’m also a Scorpio rising—we’re fond of fire.

Now, during my ritual, I do an additional kriya outside of my morning sadhana. It anchors a different type of energy for me to add yoga into ritual. I’m talking about this weaving of ritual and yoga in my podcast later this week.

Kundalini Yoga: Kirtan Kriya

Performing Kirtan Kriya will help balance your mind, activate your intuition, and connect you deeply with the cosmic energies of the Full Moon.

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose (cross-legged) with your spine straight, hands resting on your knees, palms facing up.

Mudra: As you chant, move your fingers in rhythm:

– Saa: Touch the thumb and the index finger (Gyan Mudra)

– Taa: Touch the thumb and the middle finger (Shuni Mudra)

– Naa: Touch the thumb and the ring finger (Surya Mudra)

– Maa: Touch the thumb and the pinkie finger (Buddhi Mudra)

Chant:

– Chant “Saa Taa Naa Maa” out loud for 2 minutes.

– Chant in a whisper for 2 minutes.

– Chant silently for 4 minutes.

– Reverse the order: whisper for 2 minutes, then out loud for 2 minutes.

Visualization: As you chant, visualize the sound flowing in through the top of your head and out through the center of your forehead, forming an “L” shape. This process will help you stay connected to the universal consciousness. Close the kriya with a small gratitude prayer.

If your moon cycle also starts today, give yourself a little extra rest and nourishment. Hibiscus tea is amazing for this first day. I’ll also add a bowl of water to my altar and add hibiscus tea—it turns the water a deep rich red, and that visual activation helps me anchor in my womb energy.

And finally, some practical action steps:

Journaling: After your meditation, write down any insights or messages that came to you during Kirtan Kriya. This is a time to capture the intuitive guidance that Aquarius energy enhances. If you’re stuck on what to write, do a card pull and ask for clarity.

Hydration and Nourishment: Drink plenty of water today, honoring the Moon’s connection to water and emotions. Consider eating foods that support your hormonal balance, like leafy greens, seeds, and healthy fats.

Creative Expression: Engage in an activity that allows your unique spirit to shine, whether it’s painting, writing, singing, or dancing. Let the Aquarian energy guide your creativity in new and unexpected ways.

Community Connection: Reach out to a friend or community that shares your spiritual journey. Aquarius encourages us to think about the collective, so consider how you can support others and share your wisdom.

Rest and Reflection: End your day with a quiet moment under the moonlight. Reflect on how the energies of the day have influenced you and give thanks for the clarity and insight you’ve received. Again, don’t forget to make moon water and charge your crystals.
